==Liv og virke==<br />
Selv om han tidvis virket i militæret som rådgiver og lignende tok han alltid en viss distanse til det verdslige og han var i perioder eneboer. Han skrev innenfor flere felt, men er mest kjent for sine [[taoisme|taoistiske]] verk og diverse skrifter om [[alkymi]].<br />

Som den lege han var forfattet Ge Hong også medisinske verker. Han gir den historisk første bevarte beskrivelse av [[papegøyesyke]] og av [[kopper]].<br />
