Bandet var en av inspirasjonene til dannelsen og utviklingen til [[gothic rock]]-sjangeren. Musikken kombinerte elementer fra  [[popmusikk|pop-]] og [[avant-garde]]-musikk. Siouxsie and the Banshees ble oppløst i [[1996]], og Siouxsie og trommeslager [[Budgie (trommeslager)|Budgie]] fortsatte sammen i bandet [[The Creatures]]. I [[2004]] startet Siouxsie en solokarriere.
